ECB Board Member Lane Cites Persistent Energy Risks to Inflation Outlook
Philip Lane highlights that a second wave of energy price increases will likely keep euro area inflation elevated longer than previously expected.

European Central Bank Executive Board member Philip Lane stated that higher energy costs are now expected to persist, keeping inflation above the target until at least mid-2027. While previous projections anticipated a quicker recovery from energy shocks, renewed geopolitical tensions have forced the central bank to adjust its baseline for the euro area.
Traders monitoring the euro should note that the ECB anticipates these energy-related price pressures to broaden across goods and electricity. Although the bank currently expects steady but modest economic growth supported by government fiscal programs, officials emphasized that sustained energy instability remains a significant risk factor for the European economy.
