ECB Survey Reports Easing Credit Terms for Securities and OTC Derivatives

Euro area credit terms eased slightly for all counterparties from June to August 2026, primarily through improved price conditions.

By Orion Desk

The European Central Bank’s latest survey on credit terms reveals that conditions for securities financing and OTC derivatives have loosened for the fourth consecutive quarter. Respondents noted that this shift was driven largely by price terms, with expectations of continued easing over the coming three-month period.

For traders monitoring EUR markets, the results highlight a slight increase in leverage use among hedge funds alongside higher financing rates for most-favoured clients. While demand for securities financing rose, particularly for equities, participants reported minor deteriorations in market liquidity for certain corporate bonds and equity derivatives.
