Eurozone Consumers Report Lower Inflation Expectations for July 2026
The ECB survey indicates a decline in consumer inflation expectations and mortgage interest rate forecasts alongside a slight improvement in the outlook for economic growth.
By Orion Desk
Median consumer expectations for inflation over the next 12 months fell to 2.9% in July from 3.0% in June, while the three-year outlook decreased to 2.7%. Respondents also lowered their expectations for future mortgage interest rates to 4.9%, though nominal spending growth expectations remained steady at 3.6%.
Traders monitoring the euro will note that the survey highlights a modest improvement in economic growth sentiment despite ongoing concerns regarding the labour market. While nominal income growth expectations dipped to 1.0%, the broad stability in inflation expectations remains a key indicator for central bank policy assessment.
